Catproofing the computer

For all you folks out there who have little kitties who like to walk across keyboards... I discovered through Cute Overload some awesome software. PawSense catproofs your computer. It detects cat-like typing and locks the keyboard. I think that's hilarious. Fortunately, my cats don't jump on my keyboard, so I think I'll pass. But if they did... :-)

Doggy logic

In the news: Jack Russell hero

I saw the following story on CNN today:

Tiny terrier saved kids from pit bulls

A plucky Jack Russell terrier named George saved five children from two marauding pit bulls, but was so severely mauled in the fight that it had to be put down, its owner said Wednesday.

George was playing with the group of children as they returned home from buying sweets at a neighborhood shop in the small North Island town of Manaia last Sunday when the two pit bulls appeared and lunged toward them, Allan Gay said.

"George was brave -- he took them on and he's not even a foot high," Gay told The Associated Press. "He jumped in on them, he tried to keep them off.

"If it wasn't for George, those kids would have copped it."

I was really sad to read the the hero dog had to be put down, but the story filled me with warm fuzzy feelings. For one, I hate pit bulls and so seeing a story where they don't come out on top makes me happy. Two, I love that the dog was saving the children. How amazing that God created animals to provide love, companionship, and protection.

Pet Loss Survey

I think losing a pet is very hard... I think of my own cat Autumn who was killed by dogs when I was 15. It makes me a bit teary-eyed when I think about it.

"The Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement wants you to take a moment to help other pet owners deal with the loss of a pet. This research will be used to help counselors and other professionals better understand the issues that patients who have lost pets."
